Infineta Systems on Monday announced that it is shipping the Infineta Data Mobility Switch (DMS), a switch which handles multi-gigabit links. The DMS provides 5 to 10 times the bandwidth capacity gains of other WAN optimization devices, according to Infineta’s claims. It provides IP traffic acceleration and application prioritization for applications such as replication that require large bandwidth pipes and transmit data over long distances.

The Infineta DMS includes QoS controls and hardware-based deduplication. According the company’s claims, with the DMS, customers can turn a 1Gbps WAN link into a virtual 5Gbps link. The DMS can be configured to guarantee minimum data rates for individual classes of service and create protected circuits for their bandwidth-intensive, latency-sensitive applications.

The Infineta DMS is available in capacity increments of 2Gbps, 5Gbps and 10Gbps, with pricing starting at $80,000.
