Drobo on Thursday announced the Drobo B1200i, it’s largest storage array. The B1200i is a rackmount array with dual controllers, an iSCSI SAN interface, three 1GbE connections and 12 drive bays for SSDs or SATA drives.

It is compatible with Mac OS X, VMware and Windows and works with any disk-based backup solution. The B1200i allows expansion to as much as 72TB and features an 800% performance boost over previous models. Storage pools can now expand to 128TB and volumes to 64TB. As many as 255 volumes can exist on a B1200i.

The B1200i is available now starting at $3,999 with no disks. A hybrid model with 36TB of hard disk and 720GB SSD is available for $8,499. Another hybrid model with 48TB hard disk and 720GB SSD is available for $12,599. Finally, a B1200i with 72TB of hard disk is available for $13,799.
