Veritas on Monday announced Veritas HyperScale for OpenStack, a software-defined storage solution, which optimizes workload performance, lowers operating costs and protects data in OpenStack-based cloud environments.

HyperScale for OpenStack leverages commodity hardware and offers a dual-plane architecture that distributes storage between compute and data planes, thus increasing performance.

It provides increase data protection and allows for backups to execute without impacting application performance. Storage management of primary and secondary storage are handled from within OpenStack Horizon. Faster instance provisioning with chosen storage and compute resources is also enabled.

Why Should You Care: As OpenStack gains traction as an open source platform for cloud infrastructures, issues of workload performance, reliability and efficiency, and data protection abound. HyperScale for OpenStack solves these issues.
