Nexenta on Tuesday announced that its NexentaEdge DevOps Edition, which supports block, file and object storage, now supports on-premises containers.
NexentaEdge DevOps Edition also supports error correction, cluster-wide inline duplication, snapshots and load balancing.
Specifically, NexentaEdge DevOps Edition supports Docker Swarm, Docker Unified Control Plane and Kubernetes. NexentaEdge DevOps Edition nodes can be deployed as containers on physical or virtual hosts, virtualizing all storage capacity and presenting it as native block devices, NFS shares or S3 objects. It also incorporates the Docker Volume plug-in to automatically provision storage.
NexentaEdge DevOps Edition, Baltika Release is available free of charge on Docker Hub and GitHub. It can be deployed as a container-converged infrastructure on clusters of up to three nodes and used to store as much as 16TB of data.
Why Should You Care: Nexenta now supports containers with their software-defined storage platform. This means Nexenta customers can take advantage of rapid deployment for Open Source container infrastructures. To make more reliable containerized applications, there is the NexentaEdge DevOps Edition, especially built to support rapid application development.
